IIT Bombay is recognised as one of the centres of academic excellence in the country.

IIT Bombay admits around 800 candidates for undergraduate courses in the institute through Joint Entrance Exam(JEE).

Also this IIT admits 280 candidates for 2 Year M.Sc. programmes, 1000 candidates for different postgraduate programmes and 450 for Ph.D programmes every year.
